from more notes about Ellsworth
on an April '99 telephone visit with Mary Ann,
I have several things. And at the very bottom, there's just a few lines.
Of course, this is about Pop's parentage, you know.
- - - 00:00:20 - - -
It says, Pop's great-grandfather, John W. Woolley
lived in plural marriage,
but was disfellowshipped for continuing the practice
and encouraging others to do so
after the church discontinued it.
He changed his mind later in his life
and at age 91 or 92 told Pop,
- - - 00:00:40 - - -
Ellsworth I was, and he quotes,
"Ellsworth I was wrong.
I want my descendants to follow the leaders of the church."
So, so I have that.
That's basically what you said in '76.
Yeah.
It's just a little, saying a little bit different,
which is really good.
- - - 00:01:00 - - -
Yeah, it uses the word disfellowship.
It's sort of, yeah.
But you said, why did you say he was disfellowshipped?
It says,
Pop's [Ellsworth's] great grandfather, John W. Woolley,
lived in plural marriage,
but was disfellowshipped for continuing the practice
and encouraging others to do so
after the church discontinued it.

He changed his mind later in his life and at age 91 or 92 told Pop,
Ellsworth, I was wrong. I want my descendants to follow the leaders of the church.
And I got that in quotes. "I was wrong."
