Accidents - Dorothy Smith

At 17 yrs (winter of 1928-1929) burned on arm & back when oven door loosened & fell as I rose from small tub. (Small home behind Uncle John Bushman's in Jos. City)

At about 18 yrs en route home to Can. from winter & spr in Ariz. received forehead, lip & right brow & lid lacerations when blow out on front tire swerved it into car Paragona, Ut. No pain suffered as nerves were apparently severed but spent night in Cedar City hosp. Spent week following in SLC at Zina Young Card's with Zina Brown til stitches were removed (Clark Young surgeon) (Eyelid had to be redone)

Miraculous preservation of my sight for which I've been most grateful as I pursued art hobbies & continuing (a short career (2 full time jobs) before marriage graphic studies & contributions in field of painting & lettering. These were my favorite jobs in church service

[…] genealogy research & temple work & church Lamanite Program 1964-78 along with music accomp. Also miscellaneous posters & decor for ward & stake auxiliaries, ward & home motivation mottos for ward & home, Book of Mormon highlights - Original title pages etc for many Books of Remembrance.

Some of these paying hobbies proved most valuable in providing full or partial support for several missionaries in family (brother, fiancee, sons)

Lettering & music Priest awards, Barber & Beauty school diplomas & signs
