Black and white photograph of a float. Red, gold and blue colors have been painted on portions of the picture later. In the center near the top are three white mountain peaks, and below them appears to be land--not sure. In front of this are bunches of grain--possibly wheat--standing upright . Five large grass plumes are in front of these, evenly spaced. To the right and left of these are two tall metal structures that look like electrical power line supports, each with a shield-shaped sign on it. The one of the left says "OIL," while the one on the right is "GAS." Around the base of this are two pieces of what appear to be coal. One is on the left and is a little bigger than a bread box. One in the center is less that half that size. At the very bottom of the picture and the float are eight British flags, with the letters A-L-B-E-R-T-A placed in between each flag. These letters are covered in grasses. At the far left of the picture is shown part of an unidentified girl, seated. She is holding a shepherd's crook in her left arm. Above her is a shield-type sign that says, "[...] RANCHING." On the far right of the picture is a boy, seated. Behind him is a sun with rays. He appears to be steadying it with his left hand. There is also a sign above him, with unreadable words. There are streamers in various places on the float. Words written in cursive below the picture are: Diamond Jubilee of Canada. July 1st 1927. Float representing Alberta. On the back of the picture is written: Days of Rem Also on the back is a blue circular stamp which says: DE JOURDAN'S Lethbridge, Alta. KODAK FINISHING |
