My dear Dorothy,

The Birthday card was the finest I ever had an done that I will always want to keep. I think I never say saw a lovelier trio in snapshot and am very proud to call you mine.

I have enjoyed Motherhood above all else in my life and feel that the end is not yet as new ones will endlessly come to us thru our children and grandchildren. I realize we don't have many earthly possessions but I am rich in greater treasures. A husband, three daughters, seven sons (3 in-laws) and a host of friends. Eternal increase is worth more we realized when we started life together.

We hope our boys and girls will accept the responsibility of training their children in honesty, unselfishness, tolerance, faithfulness and brotherly love and in a working knowledge of the gospel.

Children can be taught from birth to love truth and parents

often wait too late to begin training. Young minds are not fooled by the acts of parents, or by pretense. We pray that you parents may be give wisdom and courage to train those lovely boys into defendable young men who will bear the Priesthood in […] who knows but what they may have a great work to do and the preparation for their work is in childhood.

Thanks so much for the necklace and flowers (wood fiber) I am very proud of your ability with the flowers. I think they are so lovely and will enjoy wearing them. You can give your chums some for Xmas. They are really very beautiful.

We have been too busy this summer to write and so I expect I have not answered half your letters. We enjoy so much hearing of your doings and hope you will be blessed in all you do.
