Dear Traveller
If you will pardon the stationary I believe I will write a few lines in this lonesome hour. Happy as ever you know but I just need someone to talk to.
Brot back some dear old memories when you mentioned going to Grant's Pass. I recognized the name and looked up a notation in my diary which stated that on Dec. 3rd 1928, we (mother, kids & I) left Portland and that night camped on the outskirts of that small city in a tourist camp. I was reminded of the many happy experiences we had in our travels. We drove from there thru Redding, Redcliffe, Roseburg, Sacramento & so on. We had good weather at that time of year - must be having a wonderful trip now - lucky you!
I have been quite thrilled fixing up our new home. But it takes lots of elbow grease. Yesterday I waxed and polished 5 floors twice, mopped 2 others, helped with a big washing & today I ironed & straightened some more. One day last week I took mid day stroll thru a little canyon country just beyond our back yard. I discovered many winding paths, driveways and shady nooks. I secretly wished that summer would linger for a month or two until you came so we could enjoy a few evenings there together.
If I hadn't had your letters this summer I'd have had a pretty long face at times.
Now that I've been looking forward to your return I'm wondering if I'll even be here myself. Some friends & cousins of mine who are going to Provo this winter are coaxing me to go to the B.Y.U. but I haven't give it full consideration.
Marv has been down to Delta running the N.D.A. store there for 2 wks. Expect him back tonite.
I certainly like H.P. ward. Mutual is opening next Tues. I noticed that in our S. S. class there was only one fellow & not so many girls. Not so interesting in that respect. Maybe I should vacate my role as coquette & rest for a year but I think that is nigh impossible. If you don't live near here & come out only occasionally, you can bet you'll be walking home, case I'll keep you late. Don't worry, this isn't a threat.
How is Weldon now. Any word from LaRue? Saw Gert's Aunt last Sat. - spoke like she was going to write for Gert & her mother to come down at Conf. time (early Oct.) See I hope they do. I feel about half here without her. I'm glad you write her. She is being treated royally up there but the dear kid wants so much to come back & Jimminies, she's just gotta too.
Well have a good trip - an extra good one for me too. I'll be anxious to hear from you again. I haven't been writing very lengthy letters of late but I'd rather give personal reports as a good many things I have saved up for future occasions. Perhaps this will conclude my correspondence til I see you again, so remember your prayers & stay out of [sketch with an "x"]
Till we meet - may it be soon, Dotty
